It is great to read your report on the red-hot Texas bird scene. My husband and I are actually just now planning a visit to the McAlllen-Mission area NEXT January and February, but don't know if I'll be able to wait after reading about what you are seeing. My feet are itching and my eyes are watering! We are investigating the new RV Park just across from the World Birding Center, Bentsen Palm Village and wonder if you know anything about it?
