Carol Ledford and I drove to Seaside this morning. No
fog, bright sun, warm, no wind. After some walking of
the neighborhood, we had very good looks at the
Yellow-throated Warbler from about 1pm until about
1:30pm. The bird was still there when we left. The
bird was quite cooperative in 3 different
pines/conifers at the intersection of 11th and
Franklin (2 trees on the SW corner property and one on
the SE corner property). Over the half hour that we
watched, the bird was in and out of the shade and in
the open and behind bits of tree. It was again seen
feeding at the ends of branches in plane sunlit view.
At least twice I saw it come up with insects that
needed brief adjustment prior to being gulped. At
times we were within 10 feet as it was on the lowest
branches just above the sidewalk, WOW!! What hot
little bird! I still have my sox on, but just barely.
In the same mixed flock, we also saw Black-capped and
Chestnut-backed Chickadees, Red-breasted Nuthatch,
both Kinglets, as well as Townsend's Warblers.
