Last weekend I got to spend a fair amount of time at Merritt Island National
Wildlife Refuge in Titusville Florida and was able to do a fair amount of

Among the pictures is one showing the ability of some shorebirds to use the
tips of their beak independently of the rest of the beak. In many years of
watching shorebirds it is the first time that I have ever witnessed it.
