Hey Tweets,
Today while doing an assignment for class, I went out into the campus forest to visit an observation site I have. While doing some sketches of the native plants along the trail I was lucky enough to hear two BARRED OWLs calling back and forth nearby. While I didn't manage to find them in daylight Eric Huston (another Evergreen Student on Tweeters) and I decided to go and try and find them tonight. After spending a while walking around we were almost ready to head back in when Eric saw one fly over us (luckily we had found a nice clearing to work from) and land in a nearby alder tree. To say the least we were satisfied and happy about that, but on the walk back to our dorms we lucked out. Just before we reached the parking lot nearest the forest we heard a NORTHERN PYGMY OWL and it was pretty near us too. After having spent quite a few nights walking around in the forest feeling silly it finally worked. Anyway, good birding everyone.
