Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 10. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls
at 503-233-3976.

A very cooperative HAWK OWL is now being seen near Bend. Take business HWY
97 through Bend. Turn east on Hwy 20, and then turn right (south) on 27th
street. Follow 27th Street turning left onto Rickard Road. From Rickard Road
turn right on Billadeau Road. Continue past the stop sign then turn left
onto Sweetgrass Drive, then right onto Calgary. Continue on Calgary to
Calgary LP. Turn left and continue to Jasper. The bird is around this
intersection.

The southeast Portland BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER and the Coburg FALCATED
DUCK are still being seen. The Seaside YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER is elusive
but still present.

RUFOUS and ALLEN?S HUMMINGBIRDS are now moving along the coast. The first
flocks of BARN and TREE SWALLOWS are now moving through western Oregon.
GREAT HORNED OWLS are now on their nests and KESTRELS are possibly also
preparing to nest.

A flock of SNOW BUNTINGS was seen February 5 at the mouth of the Necanicum
River in Seaside. On February 6, 32 CINNAMON TEAL were on Svenson Island
east of Astoria. They are part of the large flock wintering there.

On February 5 at least 116 GREAT EGRETS were in Scappoose Bottoms. At least
10 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were seen February 5 at a roost in Eugene. A
GLAUCOUS GULL was in Eugene February 7.

That?s it for this week.
