11:42 start - water level low and dropping further (12:57 low tide -
3.8ft); all mudflats visible
12:27 end

Tweeters,
Brilliant, calm, and tending to be even warm (it's all relative) at
Turning Basin #3. A COOPER'S HAWK was on the pier directly across from
me at the start of the scan, but flew down and south shortly thereafter.
It could be that the five gulls that were flying and diving around the
pier caused too much of a disturbance. A lone RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET was
the first this year.

Note: Saw what may be the local PEREGRINE FALCON twice in the past few
days outside my scan time. At 15:50 on 2/9 atop the west power tower,
and at 12:25 on 2/10 on the east power tower.

Birds seen during this scan include the following:
Domestic goose (spurning handouts from a couple of folks)
Mallard (2)
Bufflehead (5; 2 males-3 females)
Common Goldeneye (male)
Common Merganser (4; three females-1 male)
Double-crested Cormorant (3)
Cooper's Hawk (male)
Mew Gull (13)
Ring-billed Gull (2)
Glaucous-winged Gull (15)
Rock Pigeon (69)
Belted Kingfisher
American Crow (3)
Bewick's Wren (2)
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
European Starling (17)
Song Sparrow (2)
House Finch

Total species seen to date - 2005 - (not incl. the DOGO ;>} ): 25

May all your birds be identified,
