Salutations from Kitsap Audubon,

Today (February 12th) 12 members of the Kitsap Audubon Society joined me and
Brad Waggoner for a field trip to Port Gamble in Kitsap Co. and Oak Bay,
and Fortn Flagler in Jefferson Co. The weather was mostly cooperative but we
did brave a few showers and a stiff north wind at Fort Flagler. We recorded
75 species on the trip. Highlights included:

1) Yellow-billed Loon -- seen well from Oak Bay Co. Park This bird has been
reported since at least November. It may be the same bird Brad Waggoner and
I found at Salisbury Co. Park at the east end of the Hood Canal Bridge back
in early November

2) Black Oystercatcher -- 1 at the end of the sand spit by the camping area
at Fort Flagler

3) Herring Gull 1 Fort Flagler
4) Thayer's Gull 4 Fort Flagler
5) Marbled Murrelet 30 Salisbury Co. Park and Fort Flagler
6) Blue Jay 1 heard and seen well by all at Cedar and 3rd St. in Port
Hadlock. This bird has been present in the neighborhood since October
7) Meadowlark 2 at the sand spit at Fort Flagler uncommon in Jefferson Co.

Cheers and good birding,

George Gerdts
