The Black-crowned Night Herons have not been reliable on Fir Island for a couple of years. The property next to where they roosted has expanded its activities to be much closer and most likely it has been too much pressure on the birds.

In the late 90's, I remember seeing a Black Crowned Night Heron colony up in the Skagit very near the Skagit Wildlife Fir Is. Farm near Conway. Has anyone seen a colony recently?
