Greetings birders,

In the brand new issue of "Living Bird" (magazine from Cornell
Laboratory of Ornithology), Kenneth V. Rosenberg has an article: "The Age of
Binoculars". In it he not only addresses "The Five Step Plan" for choosing
the right pair for yourself, but also has four pages of tables comparing 15
"economy" bins (under $200), 27 "mid-price" bins ($200-500), 14 "top
affordable" bins ($500-1,000), and 19 "top gun" bins (over $1,000). If you
are considering getting a new pair of bins, or know anyone who is, I
strongly recommend this reference. It's the winter 2005 issue that arrived
a couple of days ago.

Happy bin hunting,

Fran Wood (male)
