This morning I did a quick loop around the Brady Loop area after trying unsuccessfully for Mountain Quail up in the foothills. At the pond just opposite Willis St. on the east side of the Brady Loop Rd., I found quite an assortment of waterfowl. The biggest highlight was a male Cinnamon Teal mixed in a group of Northern Shovelers. Perhaps this is the same Cinnamon Teal that was found on the Satsop CBC back in December. Also on the pond was a single male Eurasian Wigeon. Mallard, Ring-necked Duck, Scaup, Bufflehead, American Wigeon, Northern Pintail, Canada Goose, and Cackling Goose rounded out the rest of the waterfowl here. In the trees above the pond, there was a very nice adult Peregrine Falcon who seemed content in just watching the ducks from above.

Further around the loop on the southern portion of Brady Loop Rd. just past the old abandoned house, I pished up a nice little group of Golden-crowned Sparrow, Song Sparrow, and to my surprise a single Savannah Sparrow. I wonder if this one may have wintered here.

Also seen around the loop was a nice assortment of raptors including Bald Eagle, Northern Harrier, Red-tailed Hawk, Rough-legged Hawk, and American Kestrel.

Good birding,
