It's trying hard to snow at my house so I'm glad I impulsively took off
yesterday when I awoke to sun. I left Edmonds on the 10:10 a.m. ferry and
worked my way to the Elwha River mouth, checking the surroundings at the
Edmonds ferry dock, Port Gamble, the foot of Sequim Bay, Sequim Bay State
Park, John Wayne Marina, and the Port Angeles waterfront along the way. It
was sunny and not too cold at Port Gamble, there was brief sleet along the
U.S. 101 stretch between Discovery and Sequim Bays, and it was sunny with a
howling west wind at Port Angeles. No unusual birds for the day although it
was interesting to see the Brandt's Cormorant in breeding plumage and some
of the Pigeon Guillemots in that costume as well.
