Georgia Conti, Mike West, Barbara Webster, and I had a pretty morning and a
cool, showery afternoon birding from Seamount Estates in southern Jefferson
County north to the Duckabush, Dosewallips State Park, Brinnon, and Oak
Harbor. Our main effort was checking out habitat for Mountain Quail above
Seamount Estates. We were also impressed with the variety of habitats at
Dosewallips State Park -- a beautiful and productive place in the morning
sunlight.

At Oak Bay we spotted the YELLOW-BILLED LOON, a flock of some 300 BRANT and
one dozen+ RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS riding the tidal current between the
mainland and Indian Island -- 54 total species seen.
