a few days ago, a fellow tweeter reported on a number of anna's hummingbirds
in his neighbourhood, dominated by one he affectionately calls "attila"...

i would like to thank mr nuttall for his kind generousity and good humour in
allowing me to photograph attila, even to the point of getting me
up-close-and-personal with said avian... this entailed climbing onto his
roof, and telling odd stories for the better part of an entire afternoon
while we also watched band-tail pigeons, at least one sharp-shinned hawk, a
rabanco rubbish truck, and other assorted sundry... i'd also like to thank
him for not requiring i use a building crane, climbing tackle, or posting an
insurance bond before climbing onto said roof. having turned 28 for the
23rd time, he would have been well-within his rights to do so :)

the photos of the month section of the park gallery website is where you
will find current photos of attila... trust me when i say he really does
look like his name :)
