Hi Tweeters,
We pent a couple of hours over in the southern portion of the Woodland
Btms Sunday afternoon.

Best sighting was of what appeared to be a mixed FLOCK of Song Sparrows
and LINCOLNS SPARROWS. Lots of both sparrows responded to pishing. Lots of
variation in the markings on these LINCOLN SPARROWS! Area was on Goerig Rd
(or street) beyond (westerly of) the railroad tracks and in a giant berry
bramble jungle opposite some farm storage/processing buildings. This is
beyond the Dead End sign west of the railroad tracks. Goerig seems to run
fairly straight out of the downtown area and goes up over the mainline
railroad at a signalized at-grade crossing. (The DeLorme map doesn't help
me out much with these city streets and Georig may only exist out beyond the
railroad tracks where it diverts (goes straight ahead) from the main road
which swings to the north.

A WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was found with a flock of Golden-crowned
Sparrows and Dark-eyed Juncos at the South end of S. Pekin Rd. near the
silage pit at the Dairy Farm (viewed from the gravelled area atop dike to
the west). This area has been good for us this fall and winter - turning up
a HARRIS' SPARROW in early December in a flock of White-crowns. Later, NEAR
this same silage pit (above ground storage inside reinforced concrete
structure) we found both forms of the WHITE-THROATED SPARROW. All views
were from the road atop the dike!

Barrows Goldeneyes are reliable under the railroad bridge over the Lewis
River to the west along the dike from the aforementioned Dairy operation.

Great Egrets seem to be quite reliable in numbers (a short dozen
yesterday) immediately northwest of this same railroad bridge. This should
be where the Dike Road and Kunnis Rd intersect on your DeLorme Atlas.
(Plate 22 on my ancient copy.)
