Hello Fellow Birders!
I want to remind you that the 8th annual "Great Backyard Bird Count" is
coming up again this Friday February 18 through Monday, February 21. The
count is sponsored by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Audubon. It
doesn't cost a dime, you don't have to register ahead of time, and anyone
can participate. Just do what you already do: count birds. You submit your
tallies over the Internet and you can even watch in real time as the
results pop in from all over the U.S. and Canada. Everything you need to
know about the count and how to take part can be found at
<http://birdsource.org/GBBC>http://birdsource.org/GBBC. The site will also
tell you how many reports from each state have been received in each of the
last seven years and the numbers for each species sighted. In addition to
being fun, it helps the Lab gather hard data about where the birds are,
data that can be compared from year to year, region to region. Please
participate, and tell your friends!
