Super day in the out and about. I took my usual "direct route" this morning
from Bellingham to Mt. Vernon and back, via the Samish Flats (!) and witnessed
a spectacular kettle of >20 Bald Eagles above the West 90. All of the eagles
were sub-adults and were joined in the kettle by a pair of Red-tailed Hawks,
one Rough-legged Hawk, and about a dozen Common Ravens. What a sight! Numerous
harriers were working the fields below.

Just down the road, in one small group of trees between the East 90 and
Edison, there were 16 BAEAs! Right next to the tavern in Edison, an adult BAEA and
an adult Peregrine Falcon were perched less than 10 feet apart.

Between Bellingham and Mt. Vernon, without really trying, I saw at least 100
Bald Eagles. There was a little nip in the air this morning but who noticed!
