Dear Tweeters,



I've been jealous of all the great birds you had further north of us,
gee-Redwing, that reminds me of home. Anyway I'd like to invite birders
down south to Northern California for April. We have three great festivals:
a smaller one is the Aleutain Cackling Goose festival April 1st, Crescent
City, then in two weeks the main event is Godwit Days., Arcata California
April 15-17th.

on-line registration, as well as almost 100 trips and workshops we are also
planning two pelagic trips over the weekend out of Humboldt Bay. The
cumulative species list for the event is almost 240, and that's just for the
last part of April. The whole event features many trips that showcase the
area and its birds, so if you were thinking of visiting this would be the
time. The birding community is rich here in association with Humboldt State
University and we have over 75 leaders and guides who will be sharing with
you - up close Spotted Owls, Marbled Murrelets in Old Growth Redwoods, Kayak
and boat trips on the bay and a magnificent Egret Rookery on Indian Island.



The weekend after is Heron Days on Clear Lake another smaller festival that
features birds north of the SF Bay area around Lakeport check

All these events are part of an eco-tourism thrust that tries to generate
economic interest around birds and natural places. They take place in small
rural communities and we really benefit from the out of town travelers.
There is great home town hospitality and we'd love to see you here in the
last best place in California. Come and do your part to support wildlife
and natural areas.
