As Larry Schwitters previously posted, the Baikal Teal at the Kent Ponds in
King County was a no-show today, at least between the hours of 11:00 a.m.
and 1:00 p.m. To my recollection Jean said the census group was there
yesterday, and also had no Baikal. I did see a pair of Tree Swallows
cavorting over the ponds today.

Now an update on what we used to call Llama Lake up here in the city of
Sammamish. Tweeters may recall that this has been a good migrant trap in
spring's past, producing American Avocet, Solitary Sandpiper, Semipalmated
Sandpiper and other good birds. The lake and surrounding property are being
developed into a residential community. I'm happy to report that a fence
and walking trail have been constructed around the lake, and the builder's
website has a map that shows that the lake will remain, along with the
holding pond that has favored American Pipits and Spotted Sandpipers. The
builder is calling the lake "Grassie's Lake", but to me, it will always be
Llama Lake. :) The not so good news is, the water level is awfully low for
this time of year, but hopefully enough will remain to attract some more
good birds. The developer has done a good job, I think.
