Greetings Tweets---

This is Bill Erickson again---

Item 1: I have already received several requests for the AP
photo of the Great Tit that I have in my file. I hope that
those of you who have so far requested it have received it OK.
If there have been any problems, let me know. I have it set up
so that a couple of clicks inserts a short message in my
"Reply," and a couple more clicks attaches the photo, and one
more click sends the Reply on its way. As you can see, it is
very easy for me to send you a photo by replying to your
request, so if any more of you would like one, don't hesitate to
ask. It's a sweet picture.

I sent Mike Patterson a copy of the photo, and he said he
will post it on his website, and post a URL for Tweets to click
on. When that's done, that will be the easiest route to see the
photo.

Item 2: Keith Brady has informed me that Tits can legally
be gotten via the internet for $50/each. And he has seen them
for sale at exotic animal expos. I'm amazed. I'm not into
exotics or the trade in exotics; I thought that importation of
wild song birds had been curtailed. Obviously I was mistaken.
I can't remember where I got that idea. I would say then that
"our" Great Tit is most likely an escapee or a realeasee.

Item 3: When Doris first told me about a bunch of local
sightings of a Great Tit showing up on Tweeters, my reaction was
sort of "So?" It didn't immediately ring any bells with me. "A
Kohlmeise!", she sort of half yelled at me. "Oooooh." Now that
got my attention pronto. It so happens that all the while we
were living in Germany, and ever since then, most of the
European birds that I know, I know primarily or, in a great many
cases, solely by their German names. Interestingly, it had only
been less than three weeks since I had spotted the tit's photo
on the AP website, and had emailed AP about it, and had put an
annotated photo in my bird photo file, and yet I had already
forgotten the "Great Tit" name again.

Did I hear somebody utter the word "senile?"

Yours for happy birding---

---Bill Erickson
