Well as if today was not already interesting enough, on 522 there was a
traffic backup going Northbound pretty close to Echo Lake road which is my
turnoff. Not unusual. The cause today however was a bald eagle, on the
ground, 15 feet or so from the highway, eating something big, like a small
dog or coyote or something which seemed bigger than a rabbit. The bird was
tearing huge bloody chunks off and gulping them down, oblivious to the
hundreds of cars that were crawling by, and the ones parked on the side of
the highway, with kids pointing and screaming. I bet several hundred people
saw that bird today and a whole bunch got a gory look at predation up close
and personal. The bird was there for more than an hour.

I was tempted to call in to a radio traffic station to report it, but then
again, traffic is already bad enough out here.
