Subject: [Tweeters] Nice Finds at Weir Prairie

Greetings!

I just couldn't resist a sunny Saturday, so I was off early to Weir Prairie in Thurston County (See Birders Guide to WA. page 207 for directions) to try for the elusive Bobwhite. He half co-operated by calling 3 or 4 times, as did several California Quail. But the Western Bluebirds were stunning, and, in the trees just on the north edge of the lower prairie, I got good looks at my first Townsend's Warbler of the year! Since Opperman lists it as uncommon in the winter, I was doubly pleased to see it.

Good birding,

-Rolan
