What an outstanding day under the late winter sun. 15 folks from across Washington met at Hood Park at 7:30 A.M. to kick off the Owls by Day Fieldtrip. We saw the following species of note............

Long-eared Owl.............26 birds
Great Horned Owl..........4 birds
Barn Owl.......................4 birds
Northern Saw-whet Owl...6 birds
Total # of OWLS......40 BIRDS!
Coopers Hawk................2 birds
Sharp-shinned Hawk.......2 birds
Rough-legged Hawk........1 bird
Northern Shrike...............1 bird
Mountain Chickadee........2 birds
Brown Creeper.................2 birds
Red-breasted Nuthatch.....1 bird
Common Goldeneye.........210 birds
Bald Eagle........................3 Birds
Prairie Falcon....................1 bird
Am. Goldfinch..................250 birds
Hermit Thrush...................2 birds
Rock Wren......................1 bird
Canyon Wren...................1 bird
Bewicks Wren.................2 birds


That is it. A write-up in an upcoming WOS News letter will have greater detail. Good birds and great company made for a relaxing and enjoyable day. Our route was Hood Park to Fish Hook Park to Lyons Ferry Park to Kahlotus to Wind Dust Park then end of fieldtrip.
