Hi Tweeters,
Sorry for the late posting. Saturday morning, Feb 19, Matthew
Matthiessen, Kris Dunlap and I saw the Redwing in Olympia. The Redwing
made a brief appearance at 8:50 am in the alley just east of Rogers.
This alley parallels Rogers and is located between Rogers and Percival,
and runs from 4th to Harrison. Matthew first found the Redwing in a
deciduous tree on the east side of the alley. Then it dropped down onto
the alley for a quick drink from a puddle. This was directly adjacent
to the backyards on the west side of the alley that have the greatest
amount of Robin activity, close to a few holly trees. The Redwing then
flew to the NW and out of sight. Kris refound the bird at approx. 9:30
am along Rogers just north of Harrison. Kris and I saw it in the first
three trees on the east side of the street.
Later we tried for the Baikal Teal in Kent, but no luck.
Good birding,
Stan Snyder
