How much size variation is there in Spotted Towhees? I saw a bird on a
friend's feeder in Maple Valley, which I would say was a Towhee but for the
size and the fact that it was on a feeder hung from a second story
deck. It was napping on the feeder. It was the size of a junco, had
extensive dark rufus on the sides, white breast, black beak. In the light,
I could not see the eye was red, but my friend said that it was. I saw no
white on the tail. There were a few white spots on the shoulder area, but
not many. Any ideas? Betty
