11:05 start - water level mid, with incoming tide (10:33 low tide -
6.7ft; 15:14 high tide - 9.7ft); some mudflats visible
11:50 end

Tweeters,
Slight north breeze, dulcet tones of an auctioneer selling cars to the
south, three researchers in a boat, and yet another clear day (some
cirrus clouds drifting in) at Turning Basin #3. The researchers, in a
Boston Whaler - WA 6388 LK, spooked the gulls that were loafing on the
mudflat associated with the restoration peninsula, and put in a net a
couple of times. Didn't see what they pulled up. The first BUSHTITS of
the year flew by. The 6 BUFFLEHEAD (4 fem; 2 male) and 16 MEW GULLS were
high counts for the year.

Birds seen during this scan include the following:
Canada Goose (7; flyby)
Gadwall (2)
Bufflehead (6)
Common Merganser (flyby)
Double-crested Cormorant (6; all foraging in TB3)
Great Blue Heron
Mew Gull (16; high count)
Glaucous-winged Gull (12)
Rock Pigeon (43)
Belted Kingfisher
Bushtit (2)
Bewick's Wren (2)
European Starling (15)
Song Sparrow (2)
House Finch (2)

Species count for 2005: 28

May all your birds be identified,
