Tweets - eleven of us enjoyed a gorgeous morning, a bit frosty at first, and
with some ground fog for the first hour or so, but clearing quickly. It was
pretty birdy all day, although species diversity wasn't stunning. Still
waiting for the first spring arrivals (last Thursday's Tree Swallows
streaking past not withstanding).

Highlights:

Bald Eagle Several sightings of 1-2 immature birds
Barn Owl Matt saw 1 near windmill 6:30 a.m.
R.-breasted Sapsucker 1 south of dog area, 1 at Rowing Club
Downy Woodpecker MANY good looks - maybe 4+ birds
R.-breasted Nuthatch 1 NE of mansion - new for 2005
Wh.-throated Sparrow 1 with GCSP near weir
Purple Finch 2 females south of Dog Central

We also saw a COYOTE in the wild area south of the velodrome parking lot
(the site where the Northern Shrike hung out earlier this winter), and the
head of a Red-eared Slider (turtle) at the Rowing Club pond.

For the day, counting some Meadowlarks seen by Jim McCoy on his way out, an
even 50 species. The nuthatch brings the 2005 list to 80.
