Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday February 24. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls
at 503-233-3976.

On February 21 a PARAKEET AUKLET was seen close off the South Jetty inside
Tillamook Bay. A PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER was on Bayocean shorebird flats that
day. There are now two EURASIAN COLLARED DOVES at Pilot Rock. On February 20
a HORNED PUFFIN was seeing flying seaward out of the mouth of the Siuslaw
River. A BROWN PELICAN was also seen there.

The Seaside YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER, the southeast Portland BLACK-THROATED
BLUE WARBLER, the Coburg FALCATED DUCK, and the Bend HAWK OWL continue to be
seen.

SANDHILL CRANES made a major movement during the week and are now reaching
peak numbers on Sauvie Island. BARN and TREE SWALLOWS and TURKEY VULTURES
continue to be conspicuous migrants.

On February 19 a LONG-TAILED DUCK was at Garibaldi. A GOLDEN EAGLE was at
Seaside the next day.

The Vancouver Lake BLACK PHOEBE is still being seen. A RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD
was in Milwaukie February 20. On February 19 a COMMON YELLOWTHROAT was at
Jackson Bottom in Hillsboro. A WESTERN TANAGER was seen February 16 on the
campus of Willamette University in Salem. A BURROWING OWL is now being seen
along Livermore Road north of Baskett Slough NWR. A RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was
in Eugene February 18. A VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOW was near Central Point
February 23.

The PINE GROSBEAK flock at Santiam Pass was seen again during the week. On
February 22 a BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD visited a Bend feeder. A female
HARLEQUIN DUCK was at McNary Dam February 21. A LONG-TAILED DUCK was there
the next day. A GLAUCOUS GULL was south of Klamath Falls February 20.

Recently a TUFTED DUCK and a WHOOPER SWAN have been seen on the California
side of Lower Klamath NWR.
