Hello everyone,
I've de-lurked for a few months and finally realized it's time to get back to Tweeterland again!
In just now reading the Web version of the Seattle Times, specifically an article on the fate of Jimi Hendrix's house in the Central District, what I primarily retain from the article is what I believe is an image of a turkey vulture soaring over the dilapidated house in the accompanying photo. (Article address: seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/editorialsopinion/2002191787_jimied28.html.)
Is my ID correct? I'm thinking this is probably the same bird reported by Rebecca Evans below.

As we were going out this afternoon (around noon) I
looked up to see a turkey vulture being harrassed by
an accipiter. I suppose the TV's do migrate over the
city, but it's the first I'd seen one. Is this about
the usual time for them to be passing through or is
this early? It does seem that I've seen all sorts of
good things in my neighborhood this year, including a
resident juvenile cooper's hawk and a peregrine
passing through (we thought maybe it was the one that
hangs out at the Ballard bridge.)

Happy birding!
