Howdy,

On Wanapum Lake about ten birders (thanks for your help, folks!) saw the
male TUFTED DUCK throughout Sunday afternoon, along and just north of the
state park. The black back stands out like a ring-necked duck's among
all the scaup backs; the tuft is full-length as in Sibley's/NG. From the
extreme northeast end of the campground you can walk about 40 yds. north
through the bush to a spot overlooking the boat ramp, if you spot a raft
of ducks at that end of the park. (There is construction on the ramp and
they don't need us in there; you can't drive in to it.) There are at
least two rafts of scaup, etc., check 'em all.

On Huntzinger Rd., a few dozen GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES arrived around 4
p.m. Sun., just south of the dam. You want to beat them there, 'cause
when they stop moving you'd never know they were there. The spot is a
few hundred feet south of the red-and-white transmission tower, and there
are swallow nests and whitewash aplenty.

In Olympia, 8:15-9:30 Sunday morning I did not spot the redwing, though
the robin roost is easy enough to find and view.
