A CAPE MAY WARLBER is coming to a feeder in the East Spokane Valley, Spokane
Co WA. Identified on 5 Feb my Cindy McCormick, the bird has been
photographed (http://www.pbase.com/clinton62) and seen by several observers.
The owners have strict visitation protocols. For specifics, contact Cindy
McCormick at 509.448.3825 or email at "cbirds at comcast dot net."
On 20 Feb, Denny Granstrand found a male TUFTED DUCK near Vantage, Kittitas
Co WA, along with a male HARLEQUIN DUCK. Several observers report seeing the
Tufted through 26 Feb. The Sullivans report the Harlequin was still there on
the 25th. Also on the 25th the Sullivans report an adult MEW GULL. Look
along Huntzinger Road from Vantage south to Wanapum State Park along the
Columbia River. WA DeLorme 52, A-1.
The HARRIS'S SPARROW found in Lewiston, Nez Perce Co ID on 19 Feb by Terry
Gray was still there on the 24th. It was at Lewiston sewage treatment plant
in North Lewiston. To get there, turn west on 3rd Avenue North off of US 12
north of bridge over the Clearwater River. Go 0.7 mile to 6th Avenue North.
At 6th Avenue turn west and go 1 block to 12th Street. Turn right onto 12th
and follow it as it curves back to the treatment plant.
Craig and Judy Corder report the female LONG-TAILED DUCK is persisting above
McNary Dam, Umatilla, Umatilla Co, OR. Check either WA DeLorme 29, A-6 or OR
DeLorme 85, A-7. The EURASIAN COLLARED DOVES are still being seen at Pilot
Rock, south of Pendleton, along Douglas Street. Also check north of the high
school along Cherry Street between Second and Third.
On 27 Feb at Cold Springs NWR, Umatilla Co, OR Craig and Judy Corder found a
single EURASIAN WIGEON and a single LINCOLN'S SPARROW. Cold Springs is about
5 miles east of Hermiston. OR DeLorme 85, A-8.
On 21 Feb Bob Flores found 69 TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS in a flock of 5500
generic blackbirds at Para Ponds, northwest of Othello, Adams Co WA. Those
birds were relocated by several birders this past week. From Othello go
north on Broadway (west end of town extending north from WA 24) past the
processing and storage facilities. When the road crosses the RR tracks it
becomes McManamon Road. Continue across the canal and down the hill past the
two potato sheds. The Para Ponds are just beyond on both sides of the road.
WA DeLorme 53, B-7.
On 23 Feb Doug Schonewald found a SWAMP SPARROW at the bottom of Nelson Road
in Moses Lake, Grant Co WA. The bird was found in the bulrushes to the north
of the sewage lift station at the bottom of Nelson Road. To get there take
I-90 exit 179, head north and continue straight (do not cut off on WA 17)
until you get to Nelson Road. Take a left on Nelson Road and continue until
the road ends.
A ROSS'S GOOSE has been in the Lewiston ID - Clarkston WA valley since early
January. It has been moving up and down the Snake River from Hell's Gate SP
just south of Lewiston all the way to Asotin, WA.
