To supplement Burt's and the Sullivans' posts. The Redwing was first found
this am around 8:45 near the large Holly on 5th ave between Rogers and
Plymouth - it was actually first seen in the decidous trees along the alley
between 4th and 5th, just behind that holly. It gave quite a show for about
30 minutes in that area before flying west. Patrick and Ruth describe well
how it was re-located near Cushing later in the am.

I also just learned from Jon Anderson that he had the bird at the corner of
4th and Cushing at 3:30 pm for just a minute or two before it flew west across
division. With the additional mid-day info provided by Burt and the
Sullivans, I believe those are all the sightings for today.

Based on a compilation of the sightings to date, IF there is a pattern
emerging, it seems that the bird will show in the am (8-9 am or so) either at
the 4th and Decatur location (6 times to date) or at the 5th Ave location
between Rogers and Plymouth (3 times to date). Both sites feature large holly
trees that attract the morning Am. Robin crowd. The afternoon "pattern" is
much less consistent, but the Decatur to Cushing/Division area along 4th seems
to be the best bet over the last week.

Overall, it's been around for 13 days now (since 12/20) and has been missed
completely on only 2 (12/25 and 12/30), maybe 3 (12/29 had one brief
sighting), of those days. There are two main clusters for all sightings
combined - the Rogers/Plymouth area from Harrison to 5th Ave and the
Cushing/Decatur area between from Harrison and 5th.

Best strategy is to arrive early and bring a walkie-talkie (band 11-22) so you
can hear the call if someone finds it.
