Greetings All

For any interested in the Wallula "poop pile" Iceland Gull, the bird looked
very much like the picture on p. 221, plate 261, in the new gull book. Also,
you can take a look at the perched "dark" juv Iceland in Sibley. The bird was
actually a bit paler than this with much paler and more pronounced edges to the
folded primaries. A key is also that the tertials are heavily and irregularly
mottled throughout.

In flight, the bird was colored overall like Sibley's darker juv, but this
bird showed absolutely uniform wings above -- no secondary bar, no dark tips to
outer primaries. It did show a weak and diffuse tail band that was narrower
and considerably less obvious than the one shown on Sibley's "darker" bird.

Also, this bird was quite small and seemed not much larger than the RBGUs it
was near. Definitely towards the small end for this species.
