Sorry that I did not check my email yesterday or until just now today.
Apparently Diane means Indian Island since she was looking from Oak Bay CP.
At any rate I would start looking at Oak Bay CP. Another message since the
first was to the effect that the the YB was further out.
The second place I would try is the unnamed CP across from Oak Bay. As
you go east on Indian Island (towards Marrowstone and Fort Flagler) the
first chance to turn right is into Lions Park (which is worth a stop) and
the second turn is the CP. I think there is a brown sign just before the
turn that says something like Jefferson County Parks.

Subject: Yellow Billed Loon at Oak Bay

Bob, I found a yellow billed loon in Oak Bay about an hour ago. Jessie
Stewart and Dick Johnson both came right over and we had a very good look at
the bird from our deck at the lower Oak Bay County Park area. The bird was
located off Marrowstone Island just ease of the causeway . I was
systematically scanning the bay for Black Scoters when I found it. The loon
easily stood out with it's large size, long, straw colored, upturned bill at
all angles, and overall lighter body than an adjacent common loon. Due to
the distance, I was unable to see details such as a dark patch on the
auriculars, or pale barring on the back. It was so very light all over, I
am inclined to think it is a juvenile. Could you please post this on
Tweeters for me?

Thanks,
