Thanks to Larry Schwitters for "giving me the bird". I had just arrived at
the small park at the NE corner on SE 16th St, and he led another birder and
me to a roadside viewing spot in front of a residence on SE 17th St where
the bird was with it's group of Ring-necked Ducks in a small cove at the
easternmost portion of the lake. The kind home-owner eventually invited us
onto the property, and we all got good scopes of the bird along with a few
ok pictures.

One note regarding private property in this area. On the northern portion
of the lake there is a very inviting strip of grass between fences that
extends down to the lake from the 163rd Pl SE cul-de-sac. The owner of this
property wants people to steer clear and get access to the lake via the
nearby park. I suggested he post a sign, which he may do. Regardless,
please respect his wish. He's concerned about liability.
