Hi Everyone--

Marcia Marvin and I spent this morning 1/8 gawking at the Redwing in
Olympia. On our way back to Portland, we pulled off I-5 at Ostrander Road
just north of Longview to switch drivers, and as we got rolling again, a
TURKEY VULTURE flew over the car. We did a quick tour of the River 'S' unit
of Ridgefield NWR: lots of Tundra Swans, a lone (possibly injured) Snow
Goose, 3 adult Bald Eagles, no Black Phoebes. Thanks to everyone in Olympia
for keeping track of the Redwing, and thanks to the nameless individuals in
the alleyway south of 4th between Milroy and Cushing who were kind enough to
let Patrick Sullivan and me stare at their thistle feeders all morning (we
saw no redpolls, but a good variety of regular yard birds).

Does anyone know who owns the holly tree on Thomas north of 4th where the
Redwing spent the morning? Some kind of WOS recognition seems warranted.
