Tweets,

I know many of you have birded in the beautiful country of Venezuela.
This country, just two air hours south of Miami, is home to
approximately 1400 bird species.

For those of you who have ever been to Ranchos Hato Pinero, Hato
Cedral or Hato Frio, read this article and remember the wonderful time
you spent birding in those beautiful places, because they are on the
verge of disappearing. Until now, these huge ranches have been
protected from development for nearly a century, with wildlife and
habitats in nearly original condition. Just to give an idea of the
scale of these places, Hato Pinero covers approximately 400,000 acres.
That's 50% larger than Mt Rainier NP.
