Today I birded with Fred Parent and Carolyn Wilcox. While in the area
we tried for the Port Hadlock Blue Jay. After much searching we found
it huddled in a tree on D street just north of 3rd. At the end of D
st on the west side the Blue Jay was stationed nearly at the top of a
tree. Due to the rain and sporadic snow the Jay was looking pretty
ratty. Very wet and noticeably ruffled. Despite this it stayed
within view the entire time we were there. A very nice bird. Thanks
to all that found it repeatedly. It was hanging out in the same
general area with a couple Steller's Jays. All seemed happy in the
secluded neighborhood.

We also tried for the Yellow-Billed Loon in Oak Bay by Indian island
with no lock. Plenty of grebes and Common Loon but no matter how we
tried we couldn't turn one into a YBLO. Fort Flagler state park
yielded several Long-Tailed Ducks (Oldsquaw) as well as large numbers
of Black-Bellied Plovers, Killdeer, and Dunlin.

Full trip list will be forthcoming. Enjoy the weekend!
