Greetings -
Since the turn of the new year, I have seen a leucistic (partial
albino) Black-capped Chickadee at my feeders on the 4th and again
this noon. Today I got a good, lengthy view of the bird while it
perched on Blue Elderberry branch adjacent to a feeder while it
opened and ate a black oil sunflower seed.
Last September and October when reports of leucistic chickadees were
fairly common in King County, I was seeing one here (west of Black
Lake, Thurston County) occasionally. The description I wrote then
matches the description I wrote this noon; it may be the same bird.
