Subject: [Tweeters] Baikal Teal at Kent Ponds - Jan 10, 2005

This morning just before noon the BAIKAL TEAL was visible for several minutes resting at the water's edge at the Kent Ponds from the southeast tower. Several of us had nice views of it before it walked back into the grass and then was flushed by a harrier. The bird was sitting to the left of the only group of cattails that you can see to the northeast of the tower. There were many Green-winged Teals along the shore that were hiding very well. When flushed the teal flew north and rounded the corner heading east and out of sight. When I left around 1:30 it had not been resighted from the southeast tower or the grassy knoll.

Other birds seen this morning:
Bald Eagle (2)
Northern Harrier (1)
Cooper's Hawk (1)
Red-tailed Hawk (1)
American Kestrel (1)
Western Meadowlark (5)

No sign of the Least Flycatcher.

Good luck,
