Hi Tweets,

The Redwing was seen by me at 0900 yesterday (Jan. 10th) in the alley
between 4th and 5th that goes from Decatur to Thomas. The bird was on the
ground by a puddle and gave me a good opportunity to observe it through my
binoculars before it flew to a holly tree at the Decatur end of the alley.
I walked very slowly through the alley, observing Steller's Jays, Scrub
Jays, Golden-crowned Sparrows, Towhees, Song Sparrows, numerous Robins and
House Sparrows along the way. It was a very bird-filled alley. I never saw
the Redwing again, so I drove to a nearby Starbucks and celebrated with a
mocha. I called on my vrs radio both when I arrived in the area and after I
located the bird, but 11-22 was silent. I did call it in to the WOS
Hotline. I later drove to Phantom Lake where I had distant views of the
Tufted Duck through my scope.

It was a lucky day. Alan Roedell 206-522 0809, roedell at speakeasy.net
