Hi Tweets: Shirley and I spotted the Tufted Duck only about 100 feet from the observation platform at Lake Hills Greenbelt parking and picnic area around 12:30 pm in the company of buffleheads, and hooded mergansers. We could easily see his tuft with 8 power bins; what a treat!! The duck was originally observed from the public access park described by Gil Tabori on 1/6/05. Yesterday (1/10), I also saw the Baikal Teal with Ryan who posted the sighting the same afternoon. Two days, two vagrants, a nice start for 2005.

Aloha and good birding.
