The family and I got out to a couple different places today. First off, we took a short walk at Lake Sylvia State Park in Montesano. The water there was about 50% iced over. Here's what we saw there:

Mallard
Ring-necked Duck
Hooded Merganser
Downy Woodpecker
Belted Kingfisher
Varied Thrush
Song Sparrow

After that, on the way home we drove through the western half of the Brady Loop area. Of special note, there was a dead Great Blue Heron just off the side of the road near the metal gate on the west side of Brady Loop Rd.. It looks to be in fairly good condition. Birds seen around the loop include:

Great Blue Heron
Canada Goose (one partial albino)
Mallard
Northern Shoveler
American Wigeon
American Coot
Bald Eagle (2 adults)
Red-tailed Hawk
Northern Harrier
Rough-legged Hawk (1)
American Kestrel (4)
Northern Flicker

Good birding,
