In the cove at the far northeast of Phantom Lake the Tufted Duck was seen by three of us at 3:15PM. This was the same location where we had gotten the bird on Friday. It was visible from the park off SE 16th described by Gil Tabori (in the park walk straight ahead from the end of the path to an overlook - view to the left to take in most of the cove) and from the cove itself as seen from the 17th St. roadway dead end (as noted by Larry Schwitters).
There was only a single Ring-necked Duck seen. Present were the usual water birds, accentuated again by a male Common Merganser.
Wear your mittens - it's cold out there !...............Howie Wilson
