My mother has sent me two photos she took today of a pair of ducks she
has observed numerous times in Normandy Park, between Burien and Des
Moines. If anyone would be willing to ID the ducks, I can email you the
photos as I don't believe attachments are allowed on the list.

They have been seen for the last few months among a flock of mallards.
They are 1 1/3 to 1 1/2 times the size of the mallards. The male is
black, with a dark green head and a white breast that shows some
mottling on the lower breast. His bill is gray, and there are small,
random white markings around the bill and on the head. The tail on both
is higher than on the mallards. The female is various shades of gray
with a black head and black and white mottled breast. Her bill is gray
with a black tip. They are both quite handsome in a duckly way.
