The male TUFTED DUCK was on Phantom Lake in Bellevue today at 2:30. I
first viewed the duck at a distance from the dock at the park off of 156th.
Then I got a much better look at the end of 17th.

The bird was diving frequently, so the tuft was "stuck" to the back of the
head, and not visible at first. Then the bird shook his head and the tuft
became apparent. But even without the tuft, the solid black back sets this
bird apart from the scaups.
