Subject: [Tweeters] Evening Grosbeak question

I live in Portland (fewer than ten miles from Washington). I had a flock of
about 25 across the street from my home in the Laurelhurst neighborhood ten
days ago. Last May there were flocks in the neighborhood. Having said
that, they have not occurred in Portland in really large numbers in a number
of years. I have assumed that they are erruptive based on their food supply
elsewhere, and that we can have huge numbers for a few years followed by
periods of time when few if any are present. Jeff Gilligan.
