Friday morning at around 11:45 three of us plus two helpful ladies (who had seen the bird a bit earlier at another location) and a couple from Oregon got super scope views of the redwing perched on a bare tree at the frequented site on Thomas St. There was bright sunshine, the bird was seen from the back, then turned to let us all look at the underside. After a 20 minute display it flew far off to the NE in company of several robins.
At the Kent ponds that afternoon we arrived 15 minutes too late to see the Baikal Teal, but apparently a multitude had witnessed it earlier from the Power Line trail. We simply have to stop our distressing habit of eating lunch. On returning to our car there was a note attached indicating that the pavement alongside the white building with the blue roof trim is private property and we should park elsewhere.
