Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday January 20. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls
at 503-233-3976.
On January 15 a RUSTY BLACKBIRD was seen along Hwy 3 about one mile north of
Enterprise. Several dead HORNED PUFFINS have recently washed onto Oregon
beaches. On January 12 a live bird was seen flying past Fogarty Beach State
park. The female BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER is still being seen in
southeast Portland. The male FALCATED DUCK continues to be seen at the RV
Park in Coburg.
On January 13 nine BARN SWALLOWS were flying north at New River south of
Bandon. Up to 150 WESTERN SANDPIPERS are now on the North Spit of Coos Bay.
A YELLOW-BILLED LOON was seen January 15 at Yaquina Bay.
On January 18 a GOSHAWK was along Oak Island Road on Sauvie Island. The
Sherwood COSTA?S HUMMINGBIRD is still being seen. A SAY?S PHOEBE was at the
Yamhill Sewage Ponds January 14. That day a YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was
along Livermore Road north of Baskett Slough NWR. On January 19 a EURASIAN
GREEN-WINGED TEAL was at Ankeny NWR. A group of six LESSER YELLOWLEGS was
reported January 17 at Stewart Pond in Eugene. A BLUE-WINGED TEAL was near
Medford January 16.
