Hi Tweeters -
Yesterday, I took advantage of the nice weather to make a loop of
Lewis County, starting up in the east end and working my way west.
Here are a few of the notables:

Riffe Lake, east end near Morton: [Delorme, p. 47 'E'7]
WESTERN GREBE - 1 here, 1 more at Mayfield Lake Co. Park
HORNED GREBE - 1

Mayfield Lake County Park: [Delorme, p. 46 D/E-4]
EURASIAN WIGEON - 1 drake amongst the many AMWIs
CANVASBACK - 2
CACKLING GOOSE - several here, a few further east along SR 12and many
more along Pleasant Valley Rd. later.

Mary's Corner: [Delorme, p. 46 D/E-2]
WESTERN SCRUB-JAY - along Prairie Rd.
WILSON'S SNIPE - 2 along SR 12 near the Mary's Corner intersection

Pleasant Valley Rd: [Delorme p. 46 D1 - 45 D8].
Large concentrations of ducks in the flooded fields here.
Mostly, these were NORTHERN PINTAIL, CANADA & CACKLING GEESE,
AMERICAN WIGEON & GREEN-WINGED TEAL. Also, amongst the geese was one
GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE. Daylight was running low, so I didn't
scan this group closely.

Ingalls Road: [Delorme, p. 45 C7]
RUFFED GROUSE - 1 on a former logging road along the left side of
the road. Accessible on foot by crossing on a plank across the ditch.

Lincoln Ck. Rd.: [WA ABA pp. 236-7, Delorme, p. 45 C/B-7/8]
TUNDRA SWAN - 3 seen from one pull off, but I believe there were more
too later where I couldn't pull off.

Big Hanaford Rd: [WA ABA, p. 236, Delorme: p.46 B/C-2]
NORTHERN SHRIKE - one about 6 miles west along the road, after the
steam plant & at the only full pull-off I found, just before the road
curves north.
I've seen White-tailed Kites in this area before, but I was probably
too late yesterday to find them in the failing light.

Good birding,
