Subject: [Tweeters] Kent Ponds Area Warning

Hello All,

A word of warning.

Today while trying unsuccessfully for the Baikal Teal at the Kent ponds, I
had my car window smashed while it was parked in the small parking area
along 64th to the east of the usual teal location. Only my binoculars case
was stolen. There were apparently at least 3 other vehicles in the general
area whose windows were smashed as well. I would recommend trying to find a
spot where you can try for the teal as well as keep your car in sight. Some
birders parked in various company parking lots just south of the usual teal
spot, however, I cannot vouch for the legality of parking in these areas. I
believe a Tweeters post mentions that the parking lot of a white building
with blue trim may be off-limits.

The Kent Police Department was investigating and this may be an isolated
incident, however, it would be prudent to exercise caution when parking in
the area.

Thanks and Good Birding,
Ted Kenefick
